Transparent Translucent Opaque
Objects are made up of different materials, and those materials determine how much light can pass through.
Materials that allow light to pass through completely and clearly are transparent. For examples, glass and clear plastic.
Materials that allow some light to pass through are translucent. For examples, frosted glass and thin paper.
Materials that do not allow any light to pass through are opaque. For examples, metal and wood.
